The Annual Meeting has been set for
Sunday, June 22, 6:00pm
Fred Fuller Park
497 Middlebury Dr., Kent, OH (Outdoor Pavilion)
The Spring Green Gala Benefit for The KNFC Expansion was a great success! It was a beautiful evening at The Masonic Temple on West Main Street in Kent, last Saturday, May 31.
Thank you to all who donated their time, goods, and services to the event! It was a fantastic convergence of elegant atmosphere, fine food, excellent company, and an exciting silent auction. Together we raised over $1,500 for the expansion!
We’ve been working hard behind the scenes to get ready to break ground. Architectural Drawings have been submitted and approved. Various individuals representing different trades have been contacted and interviewed. Financing has been approved and we’re in the last stages of planning before we begin our expansion. We hope to hire a General Contractor at our next Board Meeting and begin the construction in July or early August.

The Fundraiser and Silent Auction was very successful and raised almost $1,000 for the Kent Natural Foods Co-op.
Thank you for participating!
Keep watching this space for more news about the expansion.
At the most recent general membership meeting, Kent Natural Foods Co-op kicked off a fundraising effort to raise $25,000 towards our expansion. With nearly two-thousand dollars already committed, we are moving into the next phase of the campaign – an online, crowdfunding drive on Kickstarter. On Wednesday, August 21st at 1:00 pm, a videographer will be filming at the KNFC, and we encourage you to come down and put the “crowd” into crowdfunding!

Annual Meeting of the Kent Natural Foods Co-op General Membership
State of the Co-op Address by KNFC Vice-President Fred Pierre
I welcome the members of the Kent Natural Foods Co-op. You may have joined because you like to eat healthy, to participate in the ownership of a downtown grocery, or because you have a vote and a voice in the cooperative. You may have joined because you believe in the principles of open membership and democratic decision-making, or because you want to help grow a local,member-owned business. Whatever the reason, you have succeeded by making healthy, local and organic food more available.
Kent Natural Foods Co-op provides services that go beyond the traditional commercial grocery. Over the last 42 years in business, we have offered educational materials and workshops, sponsored local food events, and helped customers locate hard-to-find foods, vitamins and ecological household products. We have worked hard to stock product lines that are cruelty-free, non-toxic and sustainably produced, in addition to providing gluten-free, vegan and vegetarian products. We look for products with minimal, or recyclable packaging. We purchase from local sources whenever possible, to reduce the fossil fuel consumption for shipping. The store recycles almost all of its waste, and composts its leftover produce for our vegetable and herb garden.
Please nominate Kent Natural Food Co-op members for the Board of Trustees. You can even nominate yourself! We appreciate you interest in serving as a representative for the members. Our nine-member board is composed of both staff and non-staff co-op members, and meets monthly. Apply at the store or call (330) 673-2878 for more information.
Volunteers are invited to participate in our annual inventory count, scheduled for January second. This is an all-day event, with snacks provided. A volunteer coordinator will be available after 1pm to help train inventory counters. Thanks for your help!
In December we host our annual Holiday Open House. This event is not to be missed! Musicians join us, and delicious food is served between noon and 5 pm. Date to be announced. Call (330) 673-2878 for more details, please!
